Shadrone McClain - Online Memorial Website

     On the hot summer morning of July 21, 1973, Shadrone Damile “Shad” McClain was born to Felicia Elise McClain and Earl Johnson.
     His beloved Grandmother, Nell, and Grandfather, Ernest McClain, kept him close.
     Shad was born into a house with six dear aunts that were devoted to him. His aunts were like having six additional mothers and sisters. His Uncles, Eric and Kevin, were his sports buddies, his "father figures” and his "big brothers". Shad loved his family; they were always first in his life.
     Shad attended Woodrow Wilson and Sterling Middle School where he participated in basketball and met his lifelong best friends, Anthony Summerville and the late Demetrios Jones. He later attended Richwoods High School, befriending all and was loved by all.
     Shad blossomed into a great man and became the Protector of the McClain clan to his baby brother, Raphael, he became a LEADER.
     Shad was extremely protective of all of his first cousins; to Delvin and Zimmie Owens, he was their “third brother”, to Clifton Williams, he was a confidant, best friend and his # 1 Rap Fan, to Christian John Evans, he was a “video wiz”, to Timothy Hugan (TJ), he was a father figure, to Tyne Bryson he was a “big brother”, to Corbin Eubanks he was a "mentor".
     To his two eldest first girl cousins, Charita, Shad was like a "brother", and he even introduced her, to her lifelong mate “Zeek” in middle school; to his baby cousin, Illia McClain, he was her very own “Kevin Costner” her lifelong BODYGUARD. He was very proud of his little cousins Ashley, Abbre', Rachel and Erica McClain.
     Shad's most important and prized role was that of a SON! To his mother, Felicia Elisa, he was her ROCK! Her son, her best friend, her laughing partner, movie watching and movie reviewing buddy. Her first love, Shad, and his father had a close relationship and even became roommates last year.
     In 37 short years, he became so many things to so many people. He never met a stranger. He was affectionately known as “Big Circle” (for his SMILE and his stomach).
     He loved cooking, holidays, sports, video games and mostly barbecuing. Shad had a wonderful and contagious smile that will be remembered by all. He leaves all of us to cherish his memories along with his paternal grandmother, Joann Dickerson, Milwaukee, WI. Carlla Williams, “special friend” and Linda and William McGee of Peoria.
     Shadrone D. "Shad" McClain, suddenly passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2011, at home in Peoria.
     Funeral services will be at noon on Friday, June 17, 2011, at Clary Funeral Home, 428 West McClure Avenue in Peoria, with Pastor Eric Newble officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded, following services.
